WORKSHOP WITH JAMES MILTON

Join ecologist, James Milton, Vice-Chair of Butterfly Conservation Sussex Branch for a two-hour fun-filled workshop discovering the wonderful world of butterflies.

The workshop will kick off with a presentation about butterfly species within the UK, information about those common species you have seen, but have never known the name of, and will discuss a local rarity or two for you to find after the workshop! The presentation will be interspersed with personal accounts of James’ butterfly photography journey which has taken him all across the country.

There’s nothing better than putting your newfound knowledge to the test! The presentation will be followed by a butterfly walk in which we will venture around the campsite trying to identify butterflies. James will be on-hand to answer any questions you or your children may have about the butterflies we see, but also about how to start your very own butterfly species photography journey and why it is a truly thrilling adventure.

Meet by reception – Thursday 30th May & Saturday 22nd June (Weather dependent)

2hrs. £12 per person

WORKSHOP WITH MICHAEL BLENCOWE

A special event for wildlife lovers exploring the amazing world of butterflies and moths. We’ll join Sussex naturalist Michael Blencowe as he introduces us to the beautiful moths that have been flying around Wowo Campsite while we have been sleeping.

We’ll gather around as Michael opens the moth trap and meet elephants, emeralds, tigers and ghosts. You’ll learn all about the moths and there will be plenty of chances to photograph these incredible insects. Then we’ll head out on a guided walk through the meadows and woods looking for butterflies – skippers, admirals, hairstreaks, fritillaries and, if we’re lucky, the majestic Purple Emperor.

Michael has been running wildlife events in Sussex for over 15 years and is the co-author of ‘The Butterflies of Sussex’ and worked with Julia Donaldson on her mothy book ‘The Woolly Bear Caterpillar’.

Check out Michael’s website to find out more about him.

Meet by reception – Thursday 25th July (Weather dependent)
