STAGE COMBAT WORKSHOP WITH GRAHAM

Come learn the skills and techniques of stage combat, unarmed and with stage combat quarterstaffs in a safe and welcoming environment. This fun workshop will teach you various unarmed moves such as punches, kicks, throws, slaps, hair pulling, strangling, biting and, of course, neck-breaking and eye gouging!

Once the basics of unarmed combat are learnt, we will move on to quarterstaffs, where we will learn the techniques of thrusting, striking and parrying. All the weapons utilised in this workshop are safety tested and meet the UK standard for stage combat weaponry. Weapons used will be made from wood.

This workshop is taught by Graham Shackell an experienced stage combat tutor, fight choreographer, and fight director. 2 Workshop dates – Monday 27th May & Saturday 24th August. This workshop is suitable for adults as well.

2hrs – £12.50 – 7yrs accompanied by paying adult, 8yrs+ unaccompanied.

ABOUT GRAHAM

Graham Shackell is an experienced stage combat tutor, fight choreographer, and fight director. He teaches the stage combat theatre group of Thirdspace (formerly Windmill Young Actors) in Brighton for 8-18 year olds, he also teaches stage combat on the BA and Level 3 at Northbrook (Brighton MET) and masterclasses for Equity in Spain, Greece, The Netherlands, Italy, and France.

Graham’s professional credits include Romeo & Juliet (Brighton Festival), Toby or not Tobi (International Commedia dell’ Arte Day), Romeo and Juliet (International Shakespeare Festival Craiova, Romania), Lord of the Flies (Brighton Open Air Theatre – BOAT), Peter Pan (The Gardener Arts Centre), The Adventures of Robin Hood (BOAT), Battlesong (The Old Market), The Ladykillers (Eastbourne), Macbeth (BOAT), McGeoff (International Commedia dell’ Arte Day) and Love in the Time of Y Pestis (Ashbourne International Arts Festival).
