WHERE CAN YOU CAMP?
We have 5 main camping fields here at Wowo, as you can see by the map below, and on-top of that we have a beautiful wooded area called Tipi Trail. The Pellingford Brook is a stream that runs through the middle of the campsite.
LOWER BROOK
Lower Brook field is the first one on the left from reception and is where you can find the Alice Yurt, Clarabella Wagon, Gypsy Wagon and Lower Brook Bell Tent. The brook flows past the field along the whole southern edge and so campers can fall asleep to the mesmerising sounds of trickling water. Being surrounded by tall trees on both sides makes this field feel enclosed and sheltered.
This is our smallest field so we aim to keep this field as the quiet family field suitable for one or two families by each fire pit. If you are renting the Alice yurt you can have a few other tents camped near the yurt. Lower Brook is only a short distance to our main facility blocks and the bottom end of the field is roped off as a play area suitable for games and fun.
MIDDLE BROOK
This field is the first on the right as you walk from reception. Middle Brook is also parallel to the brook on the northern side, so once again campers can enjoy sounds of running water. At the far end there is also a bridge over the brook which leads into Tipi Trail and beyond. Instead of plain grass this field is predominantly clover, so if you are stuck for something to do, spend a few hours trying to find a 4 leaf clover to make yourself very lucky.
Only the top half of this field is used for camping so the bottom half is available for you to play games like football and frisbee. The corners of this field are often suitable for larger groups where you can arrange yourselves in circles around one or more fire pits. This field is the closest to the main facilities and also the walk to the Sloop Pub.
LOWER MOAT
Lower Moat is our central camping field surrounded by a large hand dug moat (by the Romans) on two sides. This is a beautiful field with a lot of history embedded all around it. Lower Moat is where we have our ‘village’ area.
The Village is where we do workshops and our on-site musician will entertain you, and also where the soup is served every Saturday during the summer. Lower Moat Lotus Bell Tent can also be found in the far corner.
GRASSY FIELD
You will find 8 glamping options in Grassy, with four Geodomes and four Lotus Bell Tents. Grassy is also home to the Wild Spa at the edge of Grassy field where many campers go for some relaxing pampering at the spa!
Grassy field is perfect for groups of families to gather around the fire to roast marshmallows and have a sing song. The second half of the field remains open as a large play area and also for dog walking. You’ll find Wowo’s famous swings along both sides of grassy.
UPPER MOAT
Upper Moat is the furthest camping field from reception, and is completely enclosed with tall trees. On the northern edge is the moat between the two fields and on the western edge in amongst the trees is our wooded glamping area called Tipi Trail. Upper Moat is largely used for larger groups of families on weekends.
TIPI TRAIL
Welcome to Tipi Trail, our premium woodland camping pitches. If you’d like privacy and seclusion, tree cover and the sound of running water, then Tipi Trail is what you need. Set behind the main camping fields, Tipi Trail has all this and more. There are 8 pitches, with a selection of different glamping options including Yurts, Domes and Shepherds Huts.
Pitch one is just after you cross from Lower Moat into Upper Moat on the right and from there Tipi Trail runs all the way down to Frank’s Spot about 200 metres away.
Because these are our premium, private and secluded pitches, we do not allow cars to drive into any of the pitches. You can drive very close, so unpacking won’t be an issue! If you need any assistance, look out for the Day Warden and they will help you!
